THE DOPPELGANGAZ

This is it! This is that real Hip-Hop you been waiting to hear for the last 10 years...coming from nowhere else but NYC, '2012:The New Beginning' is a solid album reminiscent of the 90s. With familiar sounds to Mobb Deep and Heltah Skeltah, 'The Doppelgangaz' use of dark and abstract rhymes over hypnotic, vinyl static infused samples is incredible. It's so good to see the East Coast providing beats like the good ol'days. Here's hoping we see a change...DOWNLOAD THIS ALBUM!

LINDE - LANDER

This is one of the best things I've found on 8BitPeoples.com for a while. For those not familiar with chip-tune and this website, it is all music made on hacked gameboys and all the music is given away free under the creative commons. The sound is pretty crazy but it's a great EP that Linde have made here. Choice cuts: Galileon and Satellites.

OPTI

This is a debut album from Opti; a Lyon based producer whose music is really varied and depends on what he's feeling at the time. On short records, he tends to produce Future Garage or Dubstep tinted Bass music while keeping more personal views about glitched HipHop and electronic experimentations on long play projects; 'The Letter D' falls into this.

"I started it because a huge amount of things were changing in my life. Everything went so hectic that I really felt the need to write it down, and making music this way made everything suddenly coherent." ('Opti')

PERFECT PRACTICE

Scotland's hip hop scene is getting better by the day. 'Perfect Practice' compiles many of Scotland's leading emcee's such as Loki, Silver tongue, Werd and Wardie Burns who have written their best hip hop to date. Ofcourse, this has been supplemented with the works of DJ Sonny, U-Turn and the like to bring some real nice melodies. Any doubts you had in Scottish hip hop this album will surely reassure you, this is a big turn for the underground scene and expect much, much more from these boys.

NUJABES

Having little expectation for this producer I checked him out anyways. After listening to 'We'll Miss You,' I was sold! With beats very similar to that of Aim; I rated every tune on this album. Straight out of Japan, 'Nujabes' is one of the best producers to launch out the East. However, my ignorance got the better of me and I have only just found out he died in a car crash back in Febuary. I believe this is a compilation of all his best work and I'm gutted that this is the last. Another huge loss to the revival of hip hop. R.I.P Nujabes and big up to your work!

Over the past few months i've been listening to a few sneaky leaks off Cunning Linguists emcee and producer, Kno who has blessed us with his debut solo album. Every track takes you through a beautiful journey involving the inevitability of death and its impact on love, life, family and friends. The drums, melody and chorus of each track really seperate this album from other artists; a unique and incredible album, all from one man...KNO, check it out!

Paper Tiger is a new find for myself and what a find they are!! Perfect for the end of a heavy summer. Their beats are identifiable for their incredible piano melodies, dark string lines, and crisp drum programming.'Made Like Us' is his best work to date. MF Borat (Doom)

As crazy as it sounds, its true! In 2006, during a trip out west to promote his then new movie, Sacha Baron Cohen, (aka Borat) met Daniel Dumile, better known as MF DOOM. Their blazing freestyle ciphers and mutual love of Purple Kush led to an impromptu recording of Doom’s ‘My Favorite Ladies’ verses over a beat Borat had made back in ’05 with Kulki Boolchek, a Khazak producer. Later that year Doom ventured east, and recorded three more gems with Cohen at the castle of Rudolf II in Prague, renowned for its stone acoustics. DigDug bought the master off a based-out gypsy in East Oakland and the rest is history!

A Quiet Bump is a dub and trip-hop net label from Southern Italy and under the Creative Commons they give away all their music for free! The compilation, 'Italian Dub Showcase' has two versions of each track (the original and a dub), all from unfamiliar names. Having been working through all the EPs (also all free) there's yet to be a bad track.
